A. Course Description:

Biology is a survey of biology.

B. Course Objectives/Methods:

Biology is a broad overview of the life sciences. It includes a general history of biology, analysis and understanding of the scientific method and its applications, the science of history and an overview of human anatomy. A focus is to look at the philosophical assumptions and effects of scientific theory on history.

C. Course Goals:

Students will be able to do the Following:

  • Reach reasonable and intuitive conclusions by performing experiments following the scientific method.
  • Apply the scientific method to a variety of situations, including
  • o Examining the evidence of various views as to the origin of man.
  • o Analysis of biological systems in a variety of species
  • Summarize and concisely express written information
  • Form arguments into persuasive, precise, written form
  • Cultivate a greater awareness of the majesty and power of our Creator.
  • Describe biological processes that occur on the cellular level and in the five kingdoms.
  • Demonstrate an inquisitive nature that wonders why things in nature happen as they do.
  • Demonstrate the analytical faculties to answer said inquiries without much background.
  • Construct arguments in favor of and against held positions
  • Articulate their Christian worldview with regards to Biology well
  • Answer biological and scientific questions concisely and beautifully in written and oral form.
