A.    Course Description

Transitions math is the step that takes the student from the fundamentals of mathematics toward the more critical thinking skills required in Higher math.

B.     Course Objectives/Methods:

To solidify arithmetic and prepare for algebra and geometry; to be able to deal with mathematics in different media, in any job, and in school.

This course will be taught in lecture style and incorporate various experiments.

C. Course Goals:

Students will be able to do the following:

  • Carry out various algorithms
  • Develop and use mathematic properties and relationships
  • Apply mathematics in realistic situations
  • Represent or picture mathematical concepts
  • Communicate mathematical ideas with classmates through writing and oratory
  • At the end of this course the student will be able to communicate mathematical ideas using a variety of graphs; find the area and volume of various shapes and solve for "x".
